Yad Izhak Ben-Zvi’s (YBZ) Press is an academic press which publishes books and journals about YBZ’s fields of interest: Jewish Communities in the East, the Land of Israel and its settlement, and Jerusalem. YBZ’s publications are vital tools for anyone wishing to study or conduct research on any of these topics.
The Press publishes dozens of books every year, including textbooks, edited manuscripts, series and monographs. The press has published thousands of titles in a range of fields and disciplines: archaeology, Jewish communities in the East, guidebooks for tours and sites all over Israel; Jerusalem, kabbalah; prayer and piyyut; Christianity; Islam; geography; art, and more.
Books are published by YBZ under one of three imprints: the Institute for the Study of the Land of Israel and its Settlement, The Ben-Zvi Institute for Jewish Communities in the East, and the Pesach series (popular books which cover the fields studied by YBZ).
All titles published by YBZ undergo a rigorous review process which includes external peer reviews; manuscripts are then examined by academic committees made up of representatives of YBZ’s Institutes and leading scholars from Israel’s universities. The editors and academic committees adhere to all procedures and standards common to academic presses and university publishing houses. Once a book is accepted for publication, it undergoes a production process which includes language editing and graphic design. YBZ books are printed according to the highest standards.
Books and journals published by YBZ are sold in the bookstore on the YBZ campus in Rechavia. Books are increasingly available in digital formats which can be purchased at a discount on the bookstore’s website . From time to time, YBZ also reissues out-of-print books.
