Historical and cultural heritage plays a role in the lives of many, both in daily life as well as on special occasions. Individual, communal and national identities are intertwined, as are personal and national history. The various objects, testimonies, relics and memories which shape our lives are hidden in hundreds of small exhibitions and unofficial museums.

Eretz Hefetz – Heritage Collections in Israel focuses on those items of cultural heritage found in personal collections and unofficial museums, and aims to establish one central portal for them. The portal will present basic information about these collections and the heritage treasures they hold. The project will offer tools and training to facilitate systematic registration on a professional level, and will also promote the preservation of the objects and their presentation. The portal will share, publish and expand knowledge of the objects, initiate online exhibitions and maintain active connections between the public and the holders and owners of the collections.

The information about the objects presented on the site is collected as part of preliminary research carried out by volunteers during the collection's registration. Some of the information has not yet been verified and may contain errors. We welcome corrections, comments and any additional information from the public.
