מאמרו של דרור חוברה 'יחסי הגומלין בין הקצבים
התימנים להנהגה המקומית במושבה חדרה' מתמקד
בקהילת יהודי תימן שהתיישבה במושבה חדרה בשנים
תרע”ד-תרפ”ט )1929-1913(. באותן שנים התקיימו
תדיר מגעים בין השו”ב )השוחטים והבודקים( והקצבים
התימנים לוועד המושבה חדרה עקב סכסוכים בענייני
שחיטה. במפגשים ובהתנגשויות בין הצדדים באו לידי
ביטוי הבדלים בין תרבויות שונות, גם במה שנוגע להון
התרבותי של כל אחת מהן ולכוח השפעתה בהקשר של
התפתחות כלכלת המושבה חדרה. על רקע זה חוברה בוחן
את הדרכים שפיתחה קהילת יהודי תימן להתמודדות עם
הקשיים בשמירה על מסורות השחיטה, הבדיקה והניקור
ובהשמעת קולם. מצד אחד שאפו התימנים להשתלב
בחברה החדשה, ומצד שני רצו לשמר את מסורותיהם.
המאמר מתאר גם מקרים שבהם נעשו ניסיונות לגשר על
הפערים הדתיים באמצעות פשרות יצירתיות.

Dror Hubara’s article, “The Interrelationship
between the Yemenite Butchers and the Local
Leadership in the Hadera Colony,” focuses on
the Yemenite Jewish community that settled
in the Hadera colony in the years 1913–1929.
During those years, there were frequent contacts
between the Yemenite butchers and the Hadera
Colony Committee due to disputes over issues
of slaughter (sheḥiṭah). In the meetings and clashes
between the parties, differences between various
cultures were expressed, also with regard to each
side’s cultural capital and the power of its influence
in the context of the economic development
of the Hadera Colony. Against this background,
Hubara examines the methods that the Yemenite
Jewish community developed to cope with
the difficulties in preserving their traditions of
slaughter, inspection (bediqah), and removal of
forbidden parts (niqqur), and in making their voices
heard. On the one hand, the Yemenites aspired to
integrate into the new society, and on the other
hand, they wanted to preserve their traditions.
The article also describes cases in which attempts
were made to bridge the religious gaps through
creative compromises.
